Second Chance Pet Adoptions
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How long does it take to adopt a pet?
A: It takes a few days. Once we receive your application we will do a vet reference and then call you to discuss the pet and set up a time to meet. We receive multiple applications on each animal.
Q: What are you looking for in adopting?
A: We are looking for responsible pet owners. We ask many questions on the prescreening to get to know you and your family. Our goal is to try to make sure it's the right fit for the pet and the family.
Q:Why was I not chosen for a pet?
A: Did you fill out all of the questions on the prescreening? Are we able to do a home visit? Are your current pets not spayed/neutered? If the answer is no to these, then this could be a reason. Please call us to understand more. We might have just misplaced your prescreening.
Q: What if I don't have a fence?
A: Most of our pets do not require one. We are mostly a small dog rescue. These pets require daily walks. But if you are adopting a large breed puppy, then yes, we require the fenced yard.
Q: Is there a surrender fee?
A: No, but we do accept donations.
Q:Where do you get your pets?
A:From all over, but mostly shelters and owner turn ins.
Q: Will you ship a pet out of state?
A: No, we require all owners to meet their pet in person. We will get the health certificate for air travel and try to accommodate meeting you at the airport if need be.
